Tiffany Lamps - Bring Stained Glass Class To Your Interior Decoration and Home

Original Tiffany lamps

Floor Lava Lamps

Tiffany lamps are undoubtedly a design classic that has well and truly lasted the test of time. First created in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries the originals are now highly sought after and valuable. Created by Louis Comfort Tiffany, the lamps are made of hundreds of pieces of hand cut stained glass, bonded together by the copper foil method. The light of the bulb then shines out through each piece of stained glass creating a stunning and colorful display.

Floor Lava Lamps

The inspiration and themes are generally naturalistic, with flowers, plants and birds featuring often in the designs. Because of the detail in each piece of work, these lamps have always been quite a luxury product, however with modern reproductions being produced on production lines in the far east, owning a high quality replica of a Tiffany lamp is now more attainable than ever before.

Affordable Reproductions

With the originals now selling for thousands, for most people a reproduction is the only real option. The advantage if having a Tiffany style glass lamp in your home is that it will never really be out of fashion. They are such strong design statement that they seem to have a true timeless quality about them. The rainbow like ambience they create, will probably work in whatever style you may choose to decorate your room in the future. As well as the original table lamp styles, you can also now get Tiffany style 'up lamp shades' which can be fitted to modern ceiling lights. How about getting one of each to create a real Tiffany theme to your room.

Clocks in the Bedroom - Timing Dreams

Almost everyone has to wake up in the morning, and do something. Even if you wake up in the evening, you still, once awake, have to do something. And generally this something happens at a specific time.

Floor Lava Lamps

Due to this simple fact, pretty much everyone needs a clock in the bedroom. You either need something to keep track of how long you sleep, or you need something to tell you when it is when you wake up.

Floor Lava Lamps

People vary as to the number and types of clocks that they prefer in the bedroom. Some people want clocks everywhere, the walls, on dressers, and right next to the bed. They want to record the time of every moment, and to be constantly reminded of the rush that they are in.

Others want as few clocks in the space as is functionally possible. They hate the idea of being ruled by time, and they will usually only have one small bedside alarm clock in the space, that being the bare minimum they can stand.

Many people disagree about whether it is better to have a wall clock, a mantel clock, or a bedside clock in the bedroom. Most people do have a bedside alarm clock, which allows them to set a timer on their sleeping, and will help wake them up in the morning.

This will often be backed up by either a wall or mantel clock, which is usually decorative, and which will also usually be quite large, to make it easy to tell the time from any angle.

Some people use ambient lighted clocks in this space,. Pieces such as illuminated onyx, or lava lamp clocks, have the dual purpose of acting as both clocks and night lights. They also allow you to wake up in the dark of night, and still see the time.

Almost everyone needs a clock in the bedroom. The choice between alarm clocks, mantel clocks, and wall clocks is one that will have to be determined based on the functionality needed in the space.

Floor Lava Lamps

Giving your party a theme, easily helps you add in related bachelorette party invitations, sizzling party decorations, interactive party games , delicious party food & mouth watering party drinks which will create an unforgettable girls night out. Your options are only limited by your creativity.

If you're feeling stumped on what to plan, see below to find some unique bachelorette party theme ideas to get you started. Here are a few to get you started. If you need more help visit bachelorette-partyideas.com or follow the link below. Good luck!

Playboy Themed Bachelorette Party

For a more risque bride a playboy themed bachelorette party is perfect. Time to bring out the sexy Diva attitudes out in all of your girlfriends (be sure to go over all the details of this theme with all of your girls so that no one is uncomfortable throughout the night). This is a great way for the bride and her entourage to dress up in provocative clothing for one last girl's night out on the town. Be creative! Try out a French maid costume or a sexy devil outfit. If that idea is too much try adding fish net stockings or a feather boa to your sexy night wear. There are even hot designer outfits made by playboy that will fit perfect with this party theme.

Next, pick the towns' hottest party spot to show off your sexy look. If you are planning to go to a hot dance club, take the girls to an exotic dance class beforehand. If that idea is too embarrassing for you, there is always in home DVD's or private stripper lessons.

Once you build your confidence up with your sexy look and new dance moves, hit the hot spot in style. Rent a luxurious limo to top off this sassy party theme. If you are really feeling naughty then tell your limo driver to find the nearest male revue. This bachelorette party theme will ensure that you and your squad will be the center of attention for the entire night.

If you are hosting the playboy themed bachelorette party at home, use the same concept for evening wear (this is where you can be as naughty as you wish). After you have had your personal stripper lessons or you've mastered them from you DVD, put up your portable stripper pole and create a contest for the best stripper.

To give your "strip club" a little more pizzazz, change your light bulbs to black light bulbs & red light bulbs. Even include a fog machine to complete the setting. And of course your homemade strip club is ready for when your hired entertainment arrives - the male stripper. Don't forget to decorate accordingly. Add in favorite bachelorette party decorations and party supplies.

Holiday Themed Bachelorette Party

Is there a festive holiday coming up? If so, you should consider a holiday themed bachelorette party.

Valentine's Day is a great example of a holiday themed bachelorette party. Have your girls dress as Victoria Secrets Angels. Turn this into a contest and appoint someone to be Cupid. She/he will judge each of the outfits and announce a winner followed by a Valentines surprise.

How about 4th of July themed bachelorette party? Try the American flag shot for this theme, yummy! The bachelorette can dress up in sexy military wear or everyone can dress up as 40's pin up girls. End the night with your "big bang" male stripper of course).

There are similar options for Halloween you can hold best costume contest, Mardi gras, Christmas, and even St. Patty's Day. This idea can be especially nice because you will always be able to find the perfect party supplies for each holiday party theme you choose.

This theme will let your creative juices flow, run with it!

Devil and Angels Theme

Devil and angels bachelorette party theme is one of my favorites. Have the bachelorette dress up as a sexy devil and her bridesmaids (or attendees) dress up as attractive angels.

You can even have other guests dress up as the devil servants. Send out your bachelorette party invitations with a touch of naughty or nice. Let each angel know what the required dress code is for the evening.

Be artistic with your party decorations. Split the party room into two themes, one as heaven and the other as hell. Create fake fire by coloring or painting poster board to resemble flames (use some glitter for a girly touch). Find some lava lamps and red Christmas lights on this side to give hell a perfect feel. Cut out a few clouds to hang from the ceiling on heavens side. String white Christmas lights on this side for a heavenly touch. Don't forget the balloons for both sides, red and black for the hell side and white and gold for the heaven side.

Create a thrown for the devil (bachelorette) to sit in for the evening. This way, later in the evening, the male stripper knows exactly who the sexy little devil/bachelorette is. Serve your guests a Bloody Mary as you signature drink.

Remember this is a devil and angels bachelorette party theme so the bride-to-be is allowed to be as naughty as she wants only to have her angels pull her back from the dark side.

Naughty School Girl Theme

Naughty school girl bachelorette party theme is a great attention getter.

Have the bachelorette and attendees dress as naughty school girls. Sexy Catholic outfits are one of my favorites but any short flannel miniskirts and white shirts will do. Make sure your shirt is a mid drift and you can tie it in a bow in the middle of your chest. The more cleavage the better!

You can go to the extreme if you want with this. Put your hair in pig tails and wear knee high stocking or socks & use bright red lipstick to get the full effect. If you're going out on the town, your are sure to turn heads. Remember this is one of guy's fantasies, & seeing an entourage of naughty school girls out on the town is jaw dropping.

If you are staying in for the night, consider playing rock n roll or pop music. A few favorites are Fergie Liscious, Brittany Spears, or anything that mentions school or naughty girls. Put up a chalk board in your party room to display the risqué bachelorette party games planned for the evening and what time the male stripper will arrive to teach them a lesson.

If you really want your naughty school girl bachelorette party to be a big hit, have a few rulers set out in case someone get really naughty and needs a spanking. Don't get sent to the principal's office, you might get a full lesson on anatomy!

Roman Theme Bachelorette Party

Ancient Roman times were full of festivities and grand celebrations. With a roman theme bachelorette party you can turn your party room into a palace and your bachelorette into a goddess.

First start out by creating the bachelorette party invitations with a roman theme. Think Gladiator to give you inspiration. The distinctive colors for this era are purple, gold, & white. Give all of the details in both Latin and English, including the date in time using roman numerals. Make sure to include the dress code of their favorite toga or stola wear.

Point them in the right direction on where to buy stolas (traditional Roman garment, basically a toga for women) or let them know making one of their own is acceptable. This should get everyone in the mood for your Roman theme bachelorette party.

Next turn your party room into a palace fit for your goddess.

Your party decorations can be extravagant or simple. Start by finding purple, gold, & white sleek fabrics. Hang these fabrics from your ceiling dropping down to the floor. Cover the entire room and large objects with your main color fabrics (quick tip: alternate between these colors to give a sleeker feel). Find large fluffy pillows for your guests to sit on.

If you're really crafty, you can make your own columns. Pay a visit to your local hardware or party store and pick up some sheets of faux-marble contact paper. Purchase a few oak tag and foam core. Start by taping it together with the contact paper on top, and you have instant roman columns.

Put these homemade columns by the front door to give the roman scene some pizzazz. You can find some white Christmas lights to accent the ceiling with. Now you have completed your Roman palace.

As you know ancient Romans loved to drink and feast. Prepare a few finger food trays with olives, cheese, & grapes. Provide some Italian bread with olive oil for dipping. Try serving your selection of wines in ceramic pitchers as they did in ancient Rome.

Plan for a few bachelorette party games but put a Roman twist on them. Give a door prize for the best dressed Roman Empress.

Play the game Gladiator, the movie drinking game. Or you can host chariots races. Split the girls into teams of two. One gets on all fours while the other girl rides across the room on her back.

This is really fun after a few shots. Now it's time to plan for the adult entertainment.

This is where hosting a roman theme bachelorette party can get a bit interesting! Have your male stripper show up as the Gladiator, or it's even better if you can find a Russell Crow look-a-like male stripper.

Point out the goddess/bachelorette & let the party begin!

Themed Bedroom Ideas That Can Grow With Your Little Girl

As a parent, how to decorate your child's room is one of the tough decisions you have to make. She might love Dora the Explorer today, but it's not likely that she'll want cartoons on her walls forever. You could end up spending a ton of money redecorating every year or two if you don't think ahead. Here are seven theme ideas for girls' rooms that can grow with her over the years, saving you money.

Floor Lava Lamps

Princess

Floor Lava Lamps

All little girls love to be princesses - and teens like to act like them too. Take a more mature approach to it from the start. Chose a subdued pink and pair it with browns to give the room a Victorian look. Canopy beds are regal, but they can be expensive. Instead, go for a smaller, removable net canopy, which attaches to the ceiling via a ring and only flows over the head of the bed. Use gold touches to finish the room with an elegant feel, and display princess toys that your child has until she outgrows them.

Garden

Instead of painting cartoon flowers and bumble bees all over the walls, which can be fun for a toddler but overwhelming for a teenager, try using real flowers (or silk flowers if you don't have a green thumb) on shelves that are out of reach of tiny hands. Use natural colors, like greens and browns, for painting and sheer curtains to let in as much light as possible. Keep the artwork on the walls whimsical enough for a children's room - like pictures of fairies or butterflies - yet sophisticated enough for teens; skip the cartoons and look for prints of paintings.

Retro

Creating a retro room for your daughter can be fun, but don't go too crazy with the flower power and smiley faces! Instead, stick to using colors that were popular in the 1960s and add fun touches like beaded curtains, printed rugs, and beanbag chairs. Use a lava lamp as a nightlight and stick to fabrics in funky prints, like paisley.

Paris

Pink French poodles and polka dots look cute in a little girls' room, and it is actually fairly easy to take that style idea and make it appropriate for any age group. Start with color - a Parisian themed room should have elements of black, pink, white, and tan. Stuffed poodles can easily be replaced on shelves with more sophisticated dcor, such as an Eiffel Tower replica or French country prints. Add mirrors and sconces to the walls (out of reach of small children of course) and for the furniture, think wrought iron and wood painted white or cream and distressed.

Celestial

Girls can love sciences and technology as much as boys, so why not choose a celestial outer space theme for your child? Use navy-colored paint to give the illusion of a night sky and glow-in-the-dark stars that can be removed if she no longer likes them when she's older. To give the room a girl's touch, use celestial sun, moon, and star accent pieces and pretty cloud or sunset artwork.

Beach

Tropical themed bedrooms are always a hit for kids, but creating an island paradise that will still be appropriate when your toddler is a teen can be challenging. Subtlety is key here. Use beach colors like aqua and blue for the walls or furniture and instead of carpeting, go for a wood floor that gives the room a more beach bungalow feel. For small children, use some tropical-inspired rugs to make the play surface safer, and use shells and hibiscus flowers to complement your design. You can also use bamboo and wicker for furniture and blinds in the room, and frame artwork featuring mermaids, dolphins, and sailboats for the walls.

Hollywood Glitz

Most young girls love to play dress up, and teens may also be very into fashion. A Hollywood glitz and glam room can be great for themed bedrooms. Instead of a traditional dresser, chose a vanity, which your daughter will appreciate when she's in high school, and instead of a wallpaper border, string white Christmas lights around the room that can be kept up all year. Use clear beads that give the illusion of diamonds in the window treatment and for a chandelier-like lighting fixture and add a few touches of animal prints in pillows, throw rugs, etc. for a little fun.

Remember, your toddle may not grow up to like the style you chose, so be prepared for your tomboy teen to hate her garden-inspired room or your cheerleader to have an issue with the beach theme you picked. The good news is that no matter what theme you use today, if you switch out the accessories, she'll love it tomorrow. Avoid huge decor choices that are hard to change, because you want her room to grow with her tastes.

How to Throw a Harry Potter Theme Party

With the popularity of the Harry Potter Books, throwing a Harry Potter themed party is on many kids' most-wanted lists. Here are a few ideas for muggles to throw the perfect wizard party.

Floor Lava Lamps

Set aside one room of your house to be a replica of Hogwarts School. Here are some ideas to transform your dining room into a wizard's castle.

Floor Lava Lamps

Decorations

To throw a true Harry Potter party, it must take place at Hogwarts, Harry's school, and specifically in the Gryffindor house (the dorm to which Harry Potter was assigned). The school colors are red and gold, so this should be your color theme for the party.

Creating Hogwarts can be achieved in many ways as long as the mood is dark and medieval. Draw the blinds and get ready for fun.

Every good school needs a crest

You can purchase a crest at a party-supply store or you can make your own out of construction paper. Cut out a shield shape and decorate it to say "Gryffindor" with crest-like artwork. Use this as your party banner.

Get shiny blue or metallic paper and cut out many stars and lighting bolts. Attach metallic curly ribbon (the kind you put on presents) to each star and lighting bolt and tape them to the ceiling so they dangle in midair. (Test the tape in an inconspicuous spot before taping the entire ceiling.)

If you have pictures in the room that can be taken down, replace them with straw brooms that have Nimbus 2000 (Harry's famous broom) written on the handle.

In the doorway, attach cranberry and gold streamers from the door casing to the floor to obstruct the view of the room and help darken it a bit.

Table

Cover the table with a purple table cloth. Sprinkle metallic star glitter all across the tabletop. For a centerpiece, use a lava lamp and shiny balls. Cut out small stars and bolts and tape them to a few tap lights (those rounded lights that work on batteries, usually available at most home centers). They will cast shadows on the ceiling.

Party games

The children may not enter "Gryffindor" (the room with the cake) until they know the secret password. Make a treasure hunt to discover the secret password. Either make different treasure hunts for teams or have all the guests help the birthday child.

An example for a younger child's party would be something like, "You will discover the password to enter here, upon the magic box where pictures appear." Tape the secret password answer card onto the television set.

Party favors

Get jelly beans and place them is a paper bag labeled "Bertie Bott's Every Flavored Beans".

Each child needs a wizard hat. Harry Potter party hats are widely available at most party stores.

Send them home with a few magic tricks. These are usually available at party stores.

What Color Should You Paint Your Walls?

Bold colors are back, according to Anne Krueger, editor of the HGTV.com decorating newsletter. Krueger discusses color trends in her article, "The Color of Things to Come." Red and orange will continue to be popular, she says, and the popularity of brown is growing.

Floor Lava Lamps

Other bold colors -- cardinal red, carrot orange, egg yolk yellow, Lava lamp green -- are also popular. Bold colors like these are in now, but they could be out in a few months. This brings you back to neutral colors and so-called "builder's white."

Floor Lava Lamps

Though builder's white sounds sounds boring it can be a wise color choice. Home owners who are worried about falling prices are playing it safe and choosing builder's white and neutrals. Choosing the right color for your walls is tricky business. These questions will help you make the final choice.

WHY AM I PAINTING MY WALLS? You may be refreshing a room, updating a room, unifying odd spaces, or getting ready to move. The color you choose depends on the reason behind the job.

HOW DO I WANT TO FEEL? Color expert Sherry Payne (Sherry Payne Interiors, Pasadena, CA) tells clients to consider the psychology of color before they buy paint. She asks them to make a list of adjectives that describe how they want to feel, such as calm and relaxed. List words that describe how you want to feel when the job is done.

SHOULD I GO NEUTRAL? Neurtral colors fit all styles. Painting walls a neutral color -- cream, tan, taupe, and others -- will make your furnishings stand out. You can always "color block" an area to spotlight a specific piece of furniture or area.

AM I INFLUENCED BY NAME? Manufacturers name their paint colors to make you buy their products. Brown paint may be called Decadent Chocolate. Take away the name, however, and you may have plain brown paint. Don't let the name influence your purchase.

DOES IT PASS THE DAY AND NIGHT TEST? Colors that looked great during the day may look awful at night. That's why it's a good idea to make a cardboard sample. Apply this color to wood or cardboard. Lean the sample board against the wall and leave it there for a week. Determine if you still like the color.

AM I WITHIN BUDGET? Cheap paint covers like cheap paint, so buy the best you can afford. Remember, brushes, paint trays, and drop cloths add to the price of the job. Check the store's mistake bin for bargains. You may find a can of paint that you can dilute or tint.

HOW LONG WILL I BE HERE? It is easier to paint over neutrals than in-your-face colors. Choose neutral colors if you are planning to move soon. These neutral colors will serve as primer for the next owner.

What color should you paint your walls? Only you can decide. The color you choose should make you feel satisfied and happy.

The Bachelor's Guide To Setting Up His Place

Notice I have purposefully avoided the term "bachelor pad" here. That's for good reason. That expression conjures up immediate visions of complete, utter cheesiness. And if you expect to invite women over at any point (which I trust is a given) the last thing you want your place to be as a single man is cheesy.

Floor Lava Lamps

OK, maybe that's second-from-last. The very last thing you want your place to be is dirty. And you can take that anyway you'd like, because no matter what you are thinking you are understanding me perfectly.

Floor Lava Lamps

Interestingly, I've had numerous guys (and some women) ask me how to get the topic of this section right. Here's the thing: EVERYONE has his or her unique set of circumstances. Some have lots of money, some have hardly anything extra to spend. Some live in the city, and some live in small towns. Some live where you have satellite TV, and others don't. With all of that in mind, I'm going to approach this from the mindset of an average guy with average income who lives in a suburban setting. You are welcome to take what you can use and leave the rest on the shelf, although the more philosophic bits are probably universally applicable.

So let's take this by room, shall we? I'll weave in the more general principles along the way.

1) Door/Entry

Make sure the front light works and there are no spiders living in the corner outside. Have a mat to wipe feet on and a rack inside the doorway for coats/umbrellas if you don't have a closet by the door. This is really important to making her feel comfortable immediately-and we all know by now this is job one.

2) Bathrooms

For most of your house or apartment, keeping things straightened-up as opposed to Felix Unger pristine is the key. I've actually heard from some women that a surrealistically clean place creeps them out. They recognize "It just ain't natural", as we say here in Texas. So clearing out the clutter is the key. That may get us off the hook for dusting the floorboards, but the absolute exception to that guideline is the bathroom. CLEAN THE TOILETS. Clean AROUND the toilets. In fact, clean the whole room, including the tub/shower and the sink. Use the "Clean Shower" stuff or equivalent every time you shower and you'll save yourself major trouble later. Clean the spots off the mirror. Finally, as my good (and female) friend Amy Waterman pointed out once in an interview, get everything out of your medicine cabinet that you don't want discovered. According to her, most women consider it their birthright to spy on your medicine cabinet. Sure you have condoms, but put them somewhere more discreet por favor. That goes double for the recreational Cialis.

3) Kitchen

You are cooking for her, aren't you? (Remember who you're hearing from here, right?) When you are shopping for an apartment or a house, make the kitchen a higher priority than most guys do. You want enough area in there that two people can work together. When you go for kitchen appliances, make sure stuff doesn't clash. If at all possible, I highly recommend the stainless steel look. It's got a high-end feel and comes off as masculine. Get a full compliment of kitchen utensils, decent knives and a set of pots/pans that gives you the flexibility to cook whatever you'd like. Get at least one set of matching dishes (make them masculine looking) and flatware service for four. If you have a suitable area outside, get even a small BBQ pit.

Keep the fridge devoid of rotten, moldy stuff at all times. This grosses women out on sight. Make sure you have a variety of beverages, including bottled water and diet sodas if you don't drink that stuff. Make sure the ice is fresh.

If you can, invest in one of those mini-fridges with the window in the door that doubles as a "wine cellar". Keep a bottle of red and a bottle of white in there. If you are blessed enough to live near a Trader Joe's, Charles Shaw is dirt cheap and does the job if you aren't yet a wine connoisseur. You can populate the rest of the thing with singles out of the last dozen six packs of various beers you've been drinking, etc. It really doesn't matter as long as you have a variety of stuff to draw from when putting a drink in her hand as soon as she walks in the door.

And oh yeah...empty the trash. While you are at it, make sure the dirty laundry is out of site.

4) Living Room

Yeah, you've likely got a killer big-screen and an X-box. When a woman comes over though, the best use for that TV-hands down-is to have it tuned in to whichever music channel best fits the mood you are setting. Some satellite or cable systems come with Sirius or XM channels...GET THAT SET UP. It's amazing how cool it is to set it to the New Orleans channel while cooking dinner, and to move it to Urban Contemporary, Classic Blues or Smooth Jazz later. Awwww...yeah.

And yes...I had a black leather sofa and loveseat. Stereotypical, but for good reason. I also parked my sofa directly under the air-conditioning vent. This proved strategic. In fact, contrary to popular wisdom, I always cranked the a/c down to about 70 when a woman was coming over. This encouraged closeness as the evening progressed.

When picking furniture in general, make it match. I personally went for dark wood with angular patterns (as opposed to rounded ones) which drew lots of compliments that my place looked stylish yet masculine. Don't take the feminine looking furniture (or blue couches) donated by your Aunt Betsy simply because it's free. Resist the urge. You can get what you need off of Craigslist less expensively than you think.

One important note here is that it's perfectly okay to be a guy. Just look for classic and/or tasteful ways to get the message across. For sure I avoided pinning posters of porn stars on the wall. But I did have that black and white classic of John Belushi from Animal House up there...framed. Sweet. If you have scores of big trophies, you can keep those visible too. Pool table...nice touch. Shooting pool with a woman you like is invariably great fun. If you have hobbies or pastimes you are fanatical about, having the stuff you use for doing that around the house is to be expected-just keep it out of the way.

Lighting is also excruciatingly important. I can't overemphasize this. You want alternatives to the default overhead lighting...period. Floor lamps are great, track lighting and/or an entertainment center with shelf lighting is even better. Feel free to get creative here. I actually had between 20-25 lava lamps of all shapes, colors and styles throughout my house...including one in the bathroom. The effect was great, even if the cost of replacing bulbs was more than expected. Women always thought it was cool. Contrary to what you might expect, I was also able to pull off exactly one neon sign in the house. If your place is neat and stylish otherwise, you can get away with this. Just bear in mind your mileage may vary. You always want "stylish" over "cheesy".

These days fireplaces are seen even in basic apartments in some locales. Use it unless it's laughably hot outside. If in doubt as to whether it's too warm out, fire it up. Crank down the a/c to like 68 for a couple hours right when she arrives. This is entirely worth it.

When it comes to other decorum, I agree with others who recommend leaving some interesting books around the house and on the shelf so as to promote conversation. Travel books, psychology books and bios of interesting people are all fair game here. I also highly recommend festooning your place to the hilt with framed pics of family and friends doing fun things together. There is literally no more confidence inspiring a sight to a woman than this when visiting a guy's place. Cute nieces are a plus...seriously.

A final note. You might have exactly one item that evokes a sensual/sexual response. Maybe it's a book on tantra. In my case, it was a pair of sexually suggestive dice that glows in the dark (a gift). It's okay to be a sexual being, just avoid being sex focused. By the way, you still avoid the dreaded "cheesiness" based on your overall stylish approach. One or two kitschy things here and there are fine.

5) Bedroom

So what about the bedroom? When you put a drink in her hand, give her the "walking tour" of the place and feel free to include the bedroom. Be sure to quickly leave after showing it to her though, lest you appear to have ulterior motives. Keep the bedroom door open afterwards.

Above all, make your bed. Do it so that the covers fold down in front of the pillows, but don't turn the bedcovers down as if someone is about to go to bed (see: "cheesy"). If you have a nightstand on your side that's a great place for the condoms, etc. Again, clear out clutter-including snacks and empty glasses. I know how we are, guys.

If you haven't changed your sheets this week, do so please. What? You don't have two sets of sheets? Get some with a thread count of at least 300. Try "birch fiber" sheets if on a budget. They rock. Get large pillows, and plenty of them. Pillow fights rule.

For lighting, continue the theme you've created in the rest of the home. Your bedroom should be congruent with your style elsewhere. If you have a TV in your bedroom, you'll find having the music channels is especially worthwhile there. Your iPod speaker setup can't push enough targeted variety, and even one commercial on the radio is too many.

So that's the basic rundown. Obviously, if you have a '68 Ford Falcon on blocks in the back yard and/or a Kenworth parked in the front that's a minus. And hide the cats if you are a cat guy. Women think it's kind of odd when men are cat lovers. Don't ask me why, but it's a theme I've heard often (and I don't even have cats). As for the dogs, make sure they are well behaved and clean if they are staying in the house. It's always a good idea to find out ahead of time if your guest has allergy issues, too.

And Febreze your entire place. From top to bottom. Every time.
